As one of America's leading candle making suppliers, we offer the best soy and paraffin candle wax, fragrance oils, candle wicks, jars, and more to a growing community of crafters and entrepreneurs. Whether you're just starting out, already a candle making pro, or developing your own business, we've got you covered.

Paraffin wax is a candle making classic, burning beautifully and providing great hot and cold scent throw. You can create a variety of textures and finishes by tweaking your wax recipe and pouring temperature. Paraffin is the workhorse of the candle industry, with the vast majority of candles sold worldwide containing paraffin. It is clear when melted and gives a slow, steady burn. When properly wicked, paraffin candles are smokeless and soot-free. Paraffin is not prone to wax bloom and shrinks as it sets and hardens, allowing molded candles to release easily without the breakage softer waxes are prone to. Paraffin waxes also take color beautifully, from vivid super saturated shades to the palest pastels.

To make artisan scented candles with paraffin, follow these steps:

  1. Gather your materials and prepare your work area, including a scale, instant read thermometer, saucepan, containers or molds, as well as any fragrance, candle dye, and/or other additives.
  2. Prepare your containers or molds by sticking a small piece of wick adhesive or using hot glue to affix the metal wick tab to the inside, centering the wick.
  3. Weigh the amount of wax, fragrance, and additives needed, using a maximum 6% fragrance load for paraffin waxes.
  4. For a mottled finish, use paraffin wax, fragrance (up to 6%), and color as desired. For a smooth finish, add 1% Vybar/PB 103 (about 2 tsp per 1 lb of wax). For a textured finish, a cold pour (150°F - 160°F) is the key.
  5. Pour the wax carefully into your prepared candle containers, following the temperature guidelines for the desired finish.
  6. Add the premeasured fragrance oil and dyes, stirring gently but thoroughly.
  7. Pour the wax into the prepared containers, following the temperature guidelines.
  8. Let the candle(s) cool and set overnight. Paraffin shrinks as it sets and hardens, so you may need to re-melt and pour one or more additional times to achieve a flat or desired top.
  9. For the best fragrance throw, let your candle(s) cure for at least a week. Trim the wick to 1/4" and enjoy!
  10. Use a heat gun to melt the top layer (about 1/8") of your container candles to perfect the tops and improve glass adhesion.

Our paraffin wax, as well as our coconut soy, suave smooth, natural soy, and coconut soy wax blends, are available for you to explore and create your own unique candle designs. Check out our customer reviews and product details to find the perfect wax for your candle making needs.
